The Future of Digital Studio

Working with and around digital technologies has been fundamental to the work in which I have been involved during my career, in both financial and marketing roles, especially during the past 9 years of providing professional services on business issues to creative and technology companies.

As such, I am pleased to be the moderator for The Future of the Digital Studio panel at the forthcoming iHollywoodforum summit The Digital Studio . This will take place on November 2, 2004 in conjunction with the American Film Market (AFM) with the goal of addressing the business implications of how digital technologies are redefining the entertainment industry.

The Future of the Digital Studio panel is designed to set the stage for a variety of relevant topics to be discussed in depth at other panels and case studies throughout the rest of the day. Topics will include how digital technologies are transforming the business of film and television from production through to multiple distribution windows; potential changes in business models; prospects for digital television and HDTV; the disruptive technologies that may be on the horizon; and the impact of a volatile economy on the decision making process. The panel includes:

  • James Spertus, MPAA Vice President and Director, U.S. Anti-Piracy Operations ;
  • Steve Canepa, IBM Corporation, Vice President, Media and Entertainment Industry;
  • Cliff Plumer, Industrial Light & Magic, Chief Technology Officer;
  • Gary Morse, Fox, Vice President, DVD and Video Operations;
