Digital Cinema and 3D

When I wrote Digital Cinema – Reality ’05?? earlier this year for the Digital Cinema Society’s newsletter , I indicated that 3D stereo would be one of the market drivers.

While a large scale roll out of digital cinema has yet to be announced, 3D is beginning to have an impact Disney and Dolby joining forces to install another 100 digital cinema theaters in North America with Real D technology by November 4 for the 3D exhibition of Chicken Little . This effectively doubles the number of digital screens in North America .

Come hear about Digital Cinema and 3D: Business, Production, and Distribution Trends presented by The Los Angeles Professional Chapter of ACM SIGGRAPH in cooperation with the Entertainment Technology Center at USC on September 29, 2005 .

I am pleased to be moderating the panel discussion where we will explore the trends in the entertainment industry and their related impact. The event will also include some compelling 3D content.
